it's a new year

...and I guess that warrants a blog post about resolutions.

BUT,

i'm going to talk about my parents instead.

So this morning, my dad went to the garage to get some stuff he bought for lunch (because most asian families have extra refrigerators in their garages -- mine had two at one point).

He walks into the kitchen and tells my mother, who's washing up dishes in the sink, "You have pickles in the garage."

My mother stops what she's doing, turns around, and with her eyes wide open exclaims, "YEAH? WHERE?!"

My dad, taken aback by her reaction, reassures her. "Yes, you have pickles."

My mother again exclaims, "Where?! "

At this point, my dad realizes that pickles wouldn't warrant such an enthusiastic response from my mother. "Um, yes, pickles. What do you think I said?"

"Peacocks. You said peacocks!"
